"I Am Me" Poetry Activity at Conferences

We are excited to make this Parent Teacher Conference session fun and interactive. In addition to meeting with your student's teacher and learning about their progress, you can participate in an optional activity and help your student complete their "I Am Me" poem, inspired by book Looking Like Me by Walter Dean Myers. This creative activity allows students to express their identity in a meaningful way. Students will have already read the book in class and completed a lesson that explores themes of self-identity, individuality and the importance of expressing who you are. Then they will have a chance to create their own poem during our conference times along with your help. We are excited to celebrate each student's uniqueness!
