Robbinsdale Area Schools budget update
Robbinsdale Area Schools budget update
Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools students, families, staff, and community,
As we continue working through our district’s budget reduction process, I want to provide an update on where things stand. While the School Board has not approved the final budget for fiscal year 2026, I want to share some important information about recommendations that have been made and what the administration is still studying.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) program: After reviewing options, we will not be moving forward with a recommendation to eliminate the IB program at this time.
- Fourth grade orchestra: It’s being recommended this program be eliminated. This reduction is part of an effort to balance our budget while still maintaining opportunities for music education in later grades.
- Talent Development (gifted and talented): The program will be restructured with a revised service model to benefit students.
- Activities and athletics review: We are evaluating middle and high school activities to identify potential cost-saving adjustments while maintaining opportunities for student engagement.
- Transportation changes on the table: We are exploring adjustments to bell schedules, walk zones and activity bus routes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
While we face challenges as we make difficult decisions, we remain committed to keeping students at the center of our decision-making. More details will be shared in the coming weeks as final recommendations take shape.
For more information, I encourage you to watch the full budget update discussion during the March 3, 2025, School Board work session.
Thank you for your ongoing engagement and support as we navigate this process together.
Be well,
Teri
